Station 150th Anniversary Guide
Castletown Station
A 150th Anniversary Guide
Grant Taylor
£5.00 All Funds To The Friends Of...
This guide to the station was penned by long-term station master Grant Taylor to mark the landmark anniversary which was commemorated one hundred and fifty years to the day by the unveiling of a blue plaque in a ceremony attended by the Lieutenant Governor with a speech by Tony Brown O.B.E. who is the president of the volunteer group. The guide gives a history of the site from its earliest days to the present preservation works carried out by the group, and is densly illustated from their archives showing how remarkably little has changed on the site over the passage of time, and how the iconic building is tended to by volunteers working closely with the government-owned railway to ensure all works are carried out sympathetically.
