Social Media Updates
Tuesday, 20th Octovber 2026
The Friends Of... volunteer group are wholly responsible for the update and maintenance of the various social media platforms held in the name of the station, primary of which is our popular Facebook page; this has recently seen increased popularity now heading towards 5,000 followers .
Running alongside similar pages across other social media sites, this is regularly updated with timetable information, contemporary and historical archive scenes, and “Reels” featuring short videos captured in and around the historic site, which have proved to be extremely popular in recent times.
While trains are operating the “R” timetable across selected dates (no services operate on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in October) our socials keep everyone updated on running days, voluntary activties, local information and specials as the end of the 2026 operating season draws near, the last trains being on Sunday 1st November.
Running alongside this website, our Facebook page offers an extensive online archive resource with many historical and recent images across a range of albums offering a glimpse into the station and its environs spanning a century and a half of history as well as contemporaneous views right up to date.
We are always seeking to expand our collection of views and are always delighted to hear from site visitors with their scenes both old and new. As with many archives, there are some areas where little information has come to light, one of these being archive interior views of our beautiful recently restored waiting room.
Please do get in touch with us on granttaylor@manx.net if you can help expand the archive, we are always happy to share images and ephemera with due credit to the contributor in order to keep the site fresh and expand the historical knowledge of the station across the years.
Please do get in touch if you can assist!
