Poulsom Crossing
Poulsom Crossing
This is an occupational crossing which provides vehicular access to the adjacent Poulsom Park from which it takes its name; it was established in 1978 shortly after the original stone water tower (which stood on the site) was demolished via agreement with Castletown Commissioners and the then-management, known for their "dealings". Locked and gated access is provided with no crossing barriers owing to the intermittent use of it.
It does not provide public access, and a gate at the end of the car park was erected in 2018 to prevent this following some near misses; surfaced to provide ease of access, it is commonly used when events are staged in the park or for staff to gain access to the facility; warning signs give notice of passing trains, and it provides non-stepped access to the park. Fencing works in 2026 saw the area partially improved, a pedestrian gate remains as seen below.
