The Sidings
The Sidings
There remain on site two sidings served from the down line at the north-western end of the yard much as they have since the earliest days of the railway; the first of these enters the goods shed with a spur extending beyond for loading and unloading in the gravelled area between the two main structures. This was removed in 1978 and reinsated during short line workings in 2001.
The second serves the loading dock and replica cattle dock, reinstated by the Friends Of... in 2026; it has been shortened several times and originally extended to a point as far as the stationmasters office door, lifted to create a car park, and later another portion lifted in 1994 for even more parking, when part of the loading bank was also ripped out.
