Timetable “X” (Specials)
Timetable “X” (Specials)
On occasion there are special event days during which a special timetable is operated; the last example of this was 2024 during which a copy of the original timetable for opening day in 1874 was operated (as per the accompanying image). These are designated in the issued timetable leaflet with a figure X and special timings are released as a separate document.
During the annual Manx Heritage Transport Festival supplemental timetables are occasionally issued and copies of these are available at the station and should be chalked on the blackboard for such events, these usually operate in between the scheduled services which commonly operate to the “R” and/or “S” schedules featured elsewhere. In the event of locomotive failure amended timetables may also be issued.
In March 2026 a number of amended services will operate during an ongoing bus strike, details of these may be found at www.rail.im and only run on certain dates. Please contact Isle of Man Railways directly for details of these, or call in at the ticket office and ask the station master who will be happy to assist with your enquiry. These operated on 19th and 23rd March
Left: an example of an amended timetable issued in the autumn of 2016 showing revised timings from previously promoted services, the letter coding of the timetables matching to the calendar above with “C” being the now discontinued commuter service and “W” offering a shuttle service only as far as Castletown Station on the effected dates.
